Patrick Dumas is 7th dan of Bujutsu Shinja Arts through Soke of Buke Shinja Ryu - Techniques are related to Ninpo Taijutsu ( European Martial Arts Federation ). Shinjitsu is a restraining, non-competitive, 100% defensive, with more focus on non-lethal defense due to TODAY's laws of protection and self-defense. We no longer live in the feudal ages so Ninjutsu blends with the era of its time. Mr.Hayes To Shin Do is a prime example of the art molding with the personality of the practitioner. Traditional Ninjutsu, a feudal age art was created for warfare conditions in a feudal era, focus is primarily on defensive LETHAL tactics of escape and evasion because the Ninja of OLD had to survive against the odds. TODAY, If this style is used in it's full force, without reserve or consideration to TODAYS laws and standards and morals, it COULD potentially land you in prison, even if used for self-defense! A question for instructors today teaching LETHAL techniques. "IF" any of your students were to EVER use lethal force in self-defense and take a life, are you aware you COULD BE held accountable? Shinjitsu is an independent ryu ( school ). It is NOT Ninjutsu but DOES have its TAIJUTSU based off of that art minus kill tactics. To me personally, a true Martial Artist is MATURE minded and is confident in SELF enough to not have to degrade or slander other human beings. He or she is calm and without conflict nor a harrasser and doesn't have anything to prove to anyone AND represents His or Her organization with a GOOD and MATURE character with respect to the Grandmaster. This is what I see Masaaki Hatsumi projects. Americans however...are too hostile to EACH OTHER when WE are not the enemy of each other. And this is very sad to see so many slandering each other on youtube and is why I do not have time for such nor is it productive to me. Shoto Tanemure has said that Ninpo is about protecting self, others and country and to have a respectful nature as well an understanding of God and in doing so have a GOOD CHARACTER as those who do not will freely leave his dojo on their own ...not in his exact words. A true martial artist has no ego to prove and a true master is humble, not arrogant or boastful because on the street, EGO can get you killed. You will NEVER have ANY idea who you are up against on the street or what their ability or mentality is or what they are willing to do to survive a fight against you. Don't underestimate people by their calm demeanor or appearance or even size because ANYONE can pull a trigger today to take your life, even a teenager. Because even a teenager can pull a trigger and even a teen can take a life. I ask others to simply keep the DEPTH of your martial art into clear perspective. I do not get caught up in senseless debates about anything with anyone who's focus is to critisize or be negative or to cause conflict or hate or bash talk. And I feel it is sad that too many martial artists on here today get caught up in this TRAP that takes up their time and that effects their emotions and their training and focus. This is no good.
