NGO named, 'Association for Democratic' reforms has analysed candidates' profile who are contesting the 5th Phase of Uttar Pradesh 2012 Assembly Elections. 31% candidates (76/248) analysed for UP 5th phase have criminal cases. Out of 76 candidates', 35 have serious cases like murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, robbery, extortion. Among these candidates', Ram Veer Singh, ( SP, Jasrana) has 18 serious cases, including charges of attempt to murder. Rameshwar Singh,(SP, Aliganj) has total 27 criminal cases against him, including 5 related to murder. Hari Om (SP, Sirsaganj) facing 16 criminal cases, including 6 related to murder. Ashok Kumar Singh ( Peace Party, Hamirpur) has 9 criminal cases against him, including 4 related to murder. There are 47% candidates' in the fray who are crorepatis. Out of 248 candidates, 118 are crorepatis. On the asset & liabilities front, Balvir Singh (Independent, Govindnagar) tops the chart with total asset amounting to Rs 47.80 crore. Brijendra Kumar Vyas ( Congress, Jhnasi Nagar) is on the second position with Rs 24.09 crore.
