You get one hit KOed if you use a risky move in a situation where your opponent can intercept you at a particular window with an attack at an specific side. May seem too complex and that it comes down to luck, but if you have the skill, you'll know it's not luck. You'll even think like: "Gee, I could have gotten KOed, now, but my opponent didn't do it".

The damage varies on counter hits, but that's pretty much about it, so you don't have one punch KOes, nor the tension of preventing them from happening against ya. And, btw, I actually wonder if EA's damage system would work well with UFC's extreme exchanges. EA doesn't have exchanges on the stand up; only on grapple striking.

Mar 19, 2012 - I do have to say, yeah the UFC physics aren't all the great when it comes to how shots land. They have regular hits, grazes, and counter shots and that's about it. The game isn't perfect and I have complaints, but overall I just feels it's put together a lot better than EA MMA.

After UFC 2010 I thought THQ wwas doomeed to not make any good thing forever. But I was happily surprised. I'm dubious but I do see this game "becoming" better than EA MMA. The absence of a bad parry system in UFC 3 gives it a big advatage in comparison to MMA. And I'm almost totally convinced that the grappling in UFC3 is better.

Mar 29, 2012 - Haha thank you. I guess the suggestions I would make is to not be too aggressive when you fight somebody of equal skill level. Look for your openings and turn aggressive when the opportunity presents itself. Most of fighting is just building up reflexes, so if you have good reflexes for just about anything, you'll fair off well. Go into a fight with a blank mind and just react. That's how I play UFC anyway. I'm not sure if that was your question but I tried lol
